Six Weeks and Zumba Obsessed

I am soooo excited!!
14 pounds total lost in 6 weeks!
My original goal when I first started the weight loss challenge 6 weeks ago was to lose 20 pounds in the 12 weeks. I also never thought I could even have a chance at winning the “biggest loser” at the end because I didn’t have as much to lose as a lot of the others in my class, but I have been one of the few who have consistantly lost weight every single week. At the end of the 12 week challenge the person who loses the most percentage of weight will win $400, 2nd place $200 and third place $100. I am not doing this for the money but I am a very competitive and determined person and seeing that I might even have a chance to win has motivated me even more to push through these next 6 weeks.

I guess I can say that I am obsessed with Zumba. I just have so much fun doing it and feel so good after I am done. On Saturday, a friend invited me to a morning Zumba Class. Even though I had plans to go to a Zumba Luau party later that night, I thought, why not do two classes in one day. I got through the first Zumba class (well almost through, Alyssa started crying for me at the Kids Club and I have to leave about 20 minutes early)
Then later that night Lindsey, Natalia and I went to a Zumba Luau Party expecting a 1 hour class followed by a 1 hour party, only to realize it was a 2 hour Zumba Class!!
So Saturday I did three hours of Zumba!
My co-worker has let me borrow her Zumba Fitness Game for the Wii which I have tried out and think it is just great! Maybe someone will get me my own game for my Birthday so I can give her hers back. (Tony: Hint, Hint).

Which reminds me, next weekend, July 2nd is my 26th birthday!! Its going to be tough to stay on track with my eating that weekend since both Tony and I have 4 days off for the Holiday weekend.
When I am at work, it is really easy for me to eat my small meals and snacks, but I find it harder on the weekends because I am always out doing something and have to find food while I am out and about.

Thank you to everyone who is following me in this Journey and especially to my mommy who is doing this with me. I am so proud of her, she has been doing so great !! She started Zumba with me and is loosing lots of weight herself. Having her there to support and to do this with has helped me stay focused and continue with the program.

Thank you,

Andrea

The Scales??

So the scale that I have at home is the same type/brand scale that we weigh in on at our weekly weigh-ins for the weight loss challenge.
Every week right before my mom and I leave to get weighed in officially for the week. We weigh ourselves on my home scale.
The first week my scale matched the official scale exactly for both my mom and I.
The 4 weeks following, I weighed in one pound lighter at home and my mom weighed one pound heavier on my home scale. Weird I know.

Last Night was week 5 and right before we left I weighed in at home and I showed a 4 pound weight loss from the week before and my mom showed a 2 pound weight loss on my home scale. I was so excited that there would be a good chance I would be the biggest loser again. We arrive at the challenge to get our official weigh in. I step on the scale and it only shows a 1.6 pound loss! I am happy that I am still consistently losing a healthy amount of weight but was a little disappointed because I thought it would be higher according to my scale at home.
My Mom then steps on the scale and she shows a 1 pound weight gain! She was dissappointed because according to my scale at home she had lost two pounds this week.

I am just so confused at how it is just so sporadic week to week and yesterday we feel it was way off. My mom is sure she had lost some weight and I was sure I had lost more than just 1 pound.

Looking back at the last 5 weeks my scale shows a total weight loss of 14 pounds and the other scale shows an official weight loss of 11 pounds.
I know I shouldn’t worry myself about the pounds as I am consistently losing weight and my clothes are fitting so much looser. But I am bummed that it told my mom that she gained a pound this week, when we both know that she didn’t.

I am feeling so great! I am almost down 2 sizes from when I started. I desparately need to go shopping for a new bra which is kind of depressing to know that I am loosing so much weight in my bra area :( I feel stronger and healthier and am so motivated to just keep going until I reach my goal. My original goal was to be a size 10 because when I reach that size, Tony will buy me a new wardrobe. But since my body is changing so fast, why not try for a size 8? Anything lower than a size eight for me would be too skinny since I am 6 feet tall.
I honestly have not had any issues with feeling hungry or deprived and know this is something I can do for the rest of my life. I just can’t wait!!

Start Of Week 4

I feel great!!
Week 1 started Wed. May 11th and I was a little nervous but I was ready and determined to change my life. I started with lowering my calorie intake to 1200-1300 calories a day. I logged every single item I ate and started to eat 5 small meals a day every 3 hours. I was afraid I would be so hungry as I was probably used to eating 3000+ calories in a day. To my surprise I was not hungry at all and I was able still eat delicious healthy foods.
At the end of week one I had lost 3.4 pounds. I was hooked.

Week 2 Started, Wed. May 18th- This week I decided to start doing some exercise. It was hard to find time but I would walk around my neighborhood afterwork and then do some weight training and muscle strengthening exercises at home while I watched TV at night.
By the end of week two I had lost another pound, but more importantly I had lost one pant size too! I went from a size 16 to a size 14 and had to move my belt in one notch.

Week 3 Started Wed. May 29th. I was a little bummed to only lose 1 pound during week two (which I should be proud of) but it really motivated me to start working extra hard in week three. I am still staying within my 1200-1300 calorie intake with no issues at all. I am statisfied and am putting healthy carbs, fruits, vegetables, and lots of protein into my body. I did Zumba twice this week and it felt so good. This past holiday weekend I took Alyssa to Sea World and Disneyland which probably amounted to at least 5 miles of walking. Every night I lay on my living room floor and do muscle strengthening exercises while watching TV. At the end of Week 3 which was yesterday I lost 3 more pounds! I was the biggest loser in my group for the week. There are 30+ people in the weight loss challenge program and I lost the most this week! This is just inspiring me to workout more and continue in my healthier eating habits.

We are now at the start of Week 4- I am feeling stronger, healthier, smaller, and have much more energy. I have not had any desire to “cheat”. I am so excited for what is to come in the future and am just taking every week, one day at a time. Going to Zumba a couple times this week and have a busy very active weekend planned at Relay for Life and then Kayaking in La Jolla with Tony on Sunday.

Thank you to all who are supporting me and cheering me on.
